  • More common side effects include temporary headache, pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site.

    Rare side effects include muscle weakness, blurred vision, allergic reaction, ptosis & flu-like symptoms.

  • More common side effects include bruising, firmness, redness, swelling, lumps, a temporary ‘tight’ feeling where filler is placed.

    Rare side effects include allergic reaction, vascular occlusion (which can result in tissue necrosis) or an autoimmune response to the filler.

  • This will depend on the filler chosen for the area treated, thinner fillers/skin-boosters last 6-9 months, thicker fillers placed deeper in the dermis may last up to two years.

    There is however, evidence that shows dermal fillers may be present in the tissue many years beyond this.

  • After your treatment, it takes 2 weeks for the botulinum toxin to reach peak effectiveness. The height of effectiveness is between 2 to 6 weeks. Over the following 12-16 weeks, the effectiveness gradually decreases and you will notice some movement returning to the treated area.

    The longevity of results depends on several factors, including anatomy, metabolism, lifestyle, treatment history and the dose of the treatment used.

  • Anti-wrinkle results are dosage dependant, most clients prefer to maintain some movement after results have taken effect, which can be achieved. Results will not radically change your face however they can soften lines in the frown, forehead and around the eyes and lower face. They can create a slimmer jawline, smoother neck and decrease a gummy smile.

  • You can expect a small amount of pain with any injection. It is however, short lived and can be managed with topical numbing cream or ice during your appointment.

  • Hyaluronic acid injections work by ‘plumping’ the layers of the muscle, fat and skin to give a more hydrated and volumised appearance. They can be injected in various depths to achieve different outcomes. Dermal filler can replenish the volume lost from age, genetics or lifestyle to give a smoother and more youthful appearance.

    Skin-boosters are made from a similar hyaluronic acid gel which is much thinner and non cross-linked. Skin-boosters contain amino acids, vitamins and minerals and this is placed in the subdermal layer to increase hydration to the skin.

  • Anti-wrinkle contains a purified protein and neurotoxin which block the nerve pathways that cause your muscles to contract. It is used both cosmetically and within the general medical field to treat some health conditions.

    The effects are temporary and after 3 – 5 months, the muscles in the injected area will have regained their function as the medication has been metabolised.

    Many people find that over time, they require less frequent treatments.

  • How many units you need is decided by the medical professional after a thorough assessment of your face & muscles and a discussion with you about your desired outcomes.

    Every patient is different and also may respond differently to a similar dose.

  • Historically, the TGA has allowed indirect references to prescription medicines to be referenced in advertisements related to cosmetic health services.

    Recently, the TGA has implemented changes in how we, in the cosmetic profession, discuss the use of scheduled medications. We are no longer able to use certain terms or images which are seen to promote the use of prescription-only medicines.
